SCAM OF THE WEEK: Amazon Prime Phishing Alert!

Millions of people rely on Amazon Prime for fast shipping, exclusive deals, and streaming perks. Unfortunately, cybercriminals know this and are using it to trick unsuspecting users into handing over their login credentials and financial information.

How This Scam Works

You receive an urgent email warning you that your Amazon Prime membership is about to expire. The email includes a link to a PDF file—and that’s where the trouble begins:

  • When you open the PDF, it redirects you to what looks like a legit Amazon login page.

  • The login page asks for your Amazon credentials, followed by a request for your home address and credit card details.

  • If you enter your information, nothing happens to your Prime account—but cybercriminals now have full access to your Amazon account and payment details!

How to Protect Yourself
  • Think before you click! Be extra cautious when opening attachments or links, especially from unexpected emails.

  • Verify your membership status. Instead of clicking links in emails, go directly to Amazon.com or use the Amazon mobile app to check your account.

  • Watch out for urgency tactics. Scammers love to create a sense of panic—if an email pressures you to act immediately, take a step back and verify first.

  • When in doubt, contact Amazon. If you’re unsure whether an email is legit, reach out to Amazon directly through their official website or customer service.

If you suspect you’ve fallen for this scam, immediately change your Amazon password and report the phishing attempt to Amazon at Amazon’s Report Phishing page.

Stay sharp, stay secure, and don’t let scammers hijack your Prime experience! 🛍️🔒
